This article analyzes the poetry collection Monstruos Marinos by Gast & oacute;n Carrasco (2017) from a palimpsestic perspective, in relation to the hunting logic that has historically shaped the connection with the monstrous and the animal. The poetry collection distances itself from this virile logic of pursuit through resources such as parody and pastiche. The hunting logic is linked to Derridean carnophallogocentrism, highlighting the interdependencies between the human and the nonhuman. Finally, the argument is made that the work promotes alternative affects and representational frameworks in the face of the monstrous, generating an aesthetic that questions the ontological limits of the "properly" human.
