The article proposes a discussion oriented towards cultural criminology on the symbolic interaction present in the burning of lorries by an animalist movement through an anti-speciesist discourse. This proposal is developed through a theoretical discussion to approach animalism as a socio-cultural movement that seeks the symbolic recognition, in legal and cultural terms, of animals as subjects of law. In the development, a nexus is generated between civil disobedience, the transformation of collective action in Latin America; insurgent democracy for institutional transformations and political action; individuation/subjectivation evident in speciesist culture; and symbolic interactionism. The aim is to contribute to the interdisciplinary epistemological debate from cultural criminology to its full extent in social psychology, political philosophy and legal sciences; by substantiating the thesis that animalism antispeciesist is a social movement that seeks to achieve its political mission of speciesist non-domination over non-human species, and will therefore use illicit actions as a symbolic resistance to contemporary knowledge-power relations that imply a subjectivation of individuals in our culture.
