Women's Empowerment ( WfEM ) is essential to achieve gender equality and sustainable development. The objective of the study is to present a general overview of WfEM through bibliometric analysis. The performance analysis method and indicators such as h -index , productivity and citations are used. Subsequently, the scientific mapping method is applied using Vosviewer (R) software to display the image of the WfEM field with the techniques of co -citation and keywords co -occurrence. This study uses SCOPUS database. The units of analysis were articles and authors. The results show that Naila Kabeer, Agnes R. Quisumbing, Kathryn Yount, Sidney Ruth Schuler and Syed Mesbahuddin Hashemi are the most influential authors in the field. WfEM is a field of global projection, with many emerging areas due to the visibility of women's participation, domains, theoretical approaches, and strategic development capacity. Gender, gender equality, country -India, microfinance and development are issues closely linked to WfEM . However, the concept presents challenges in its analysis and measurement, in addition to the risk of losing its political, emancipatory and social justice bases.
