Through the experiences of children and youth in the informal settlement of << El Sue & ntilde;o de Todos >>, south of Santiago de Chile, the strategies of resistance deployed by the community and external actors involved in the co-construction of spaces for care and education are exposed, such as a com-munity school of the same name. It is argued that collaborative work, personal projections, and community organization have been able to build fundamental educational and care networks to address the precarious living conditions. In educational terms, it is suggested that the caregiving practices fostered by the popular school extend beyond the boundaries of the classroom and intersect with those community cares associated with inhabiting the city from its margins
