Abstract

Paddle tennis has had exponential growth in recent years, becoming one of the most popular racket sports in the world, accompanied by a consequent increase in injuries. The objective of this research was to carry out a bibliographic review to know the physical and technical-tactical requirements of paddle tennis, as well as its injury incidence. A narrative review was carried out through a search in PubMed, Scopus and WOS, between October and November 2023, for open access articles. "Padel" OR "Paddel" AND "Performance" OR "Incidence" were used as terms for the search equation, with a time frame of 3 years, and English, Spanish, Portuguese and any other language that can be translated using Deepl or any other free translator. 9 articles were included, four of them delve into the incidence, prevalenceand nature of the injuries. Three on physical, technical and tactical requirements. One about physiological requirement. Three about injury risks. One about strength and conditioning programs. Another identifies the potential role of paddle tennis as a strategy to promote physical fitness and health, and two performs an analysis of the distribution and effectiveness of the different types of hits or smashes in paddle tennis on which they could be used to design tasks and exercises. . by coaches and professional players. It is concluded that the characterization of the performance requirements and injury incidence in paddle tennis are present to be used for the improvement of the players. Future research should focus on injury preventive programs.
