This article studies the last novel by Argentine writer Carlos Game-rro-La jaula de los onas (2021)-based on the notion of "archive fiction." This type of stories, whose publication has been intensifying in the 2000s, has in common the presence of graphic materials, especially photographs and documents of various types. It is also typical of these narratives that historical research is central to the plot and that there is a confusion of the boundaries between fiction and non-fiction. In this framework, the importance of the archive in the mentioned work of Gamerro will be analyzed through a photograph that documents the exhibition of a group of Selk'nam in Paris at the Universal Exhibition of 1889 and its presence will also be studied, figuratively, in social discourses that account for both literary traditions and linguistic varieties, as well as ideologies and imaginaries.
