Between 1968 and 1978, the Educational Establishment Construction Company (SCEE) in Chile developed a series of experimental prototypes for the construction of schools and educational centers based on modularity and prefabrication. This article delves into some of these prototypes, revealing the ambitions and challenges associated with replicability and adaptation in the architecture of education. The critical review of these projects also highlights the connections between institutional frameworks, political contexts and social aspirations, providing relevant lessons for the contemporary relationship between architecture, education and society.
