Guidance for professionals who are linked to the education of deaf individuals should consider specialists proficient in sign language and the design of visual materials. Therefore, this research article aims to explore the value of the stories from deaf leaders in the construction of a Visual Pedagogical Prototype (vpp) that contributes to the development of reading and writing in primary education. The research is from a qualitative approach, considering the epistemologies of deaf individuals through a narrative design. In this way, life stories were collected through semi-structured interviews with 6 deaf adult leaders from 3 cities in Chile. The information was coded with the Atlas ti software, in which the central category is the Visual Pedagogical Prototype, with 4 sub-categories: Deaf Identity, Deaf Community, Communication, and Learning, which make up the support for the design of the Cata Plum-Cata Plam comic, whose history reveals elements from the linguistic-cultural experiences of the participants, with their family and school environment that make visible the importance of the Chilean Sign Language, as well as reading and writing through significant resource.
