Chilean Law 20,584 on the rights and duties of the patient, which mentions dignified treatment by health personnel, has been undermined, based on background information collected about the nursing career in Chile. The resulting user dissatisfaction with nursing care has exacerbated the poor nurse-user interaction resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic (2020-2022) and the related use of isolation and personal protection protocols. This situation has revealed the need to emphasize humanized care in the teaching-learning methodologies taught in the country's nursing courses at different higher education institutions. The following study aims to apply active-participatory methodologies to facilitate the meaningful learning of humanized care in the subject of mental health nursing, in the nursing program of a Chilean university in the second semester of 2022. A study was carried out based on the action research model with 68 students of the subject, applying methodological tools for learning as well as information and communications technologies (ICT). The results of the project show improved knowledge about humanized care from 82% (pre-clinical practice) to 90.2% (post-clinical practice) after implementation. The deeper knowledge and improvement in the therapeutic relationship with the patient will help the nursing student achieve greater effectiveness in the health care process.
