This research studies the administrative and financial experience of the first Chilean plant for serialized prefabrication of reinforced concrete homes, which was donated by the Soviet Union and began operating during the UP government. The approach used is institutional history with a focus on the economy and a methodology of qualitative analysis of the documents is used, "from above". In this regard, the general objective of the research is to describe and analyze the trajectory that the CORVI used to manage, invest, and consolidate the installation of this capital asset. While the specific objectives first explore the administrative acquisition process of the K.P.D. plant during 1971 and 1972; Second, they describe the budgetary cost that the CORVI had to assume with the installation of the factory during 1972 and with the first K.P.D. type housing construction in 1973; and third, they analyze the consolidation of the factory as a Construction Company during the months prior to the coup d'etat. The original research of this study is made up of institutional documents such as official letters, resolutions, and agreements of the CORVI, and to a lesser extent, of the CORMU. Also, the newspaper "El Siglo", which gave extensive coverage to Chilean-Soviet relations and highlighted the significant work that was being built in Quilpue.
