The coup d'& eacute;tat that overthrew President Salvador Allende on September 11, 1973 provoked a popular reaction that wanted to resist not only the repression deployed by the Military Junta, but also to oppose any form of oblivion. Although Santiago and its towns were the main sources of repression after the coup, after the death of President Salvador Allende and his subsequent funeral on September 12, a new nucleus of resistance opened up in Vi & ntilde;a del Mar, this time towards the memory of the leader of the Chilean road to socialism. After the private and secret ceremony, a large number of residents and protesters came to the grave of the ex -president. While some clamored to recognize and confirm the presence of the body in the coffin, others sought to provide a ceremony in the company of the people, a fact that ultimately meant the start of a battle with the corpse of Salvador Allende as the protagonist, since immediately troops of order and security forces dropped off in the vicinity of the Santa In & eacute;s cemetery with the purpose of repressing and rejecting any popular demonstration around her burial, her memory and her memory.
