The main objective of this work is to explore whether, in the future in which new high-investment electric transport is implemented, trolleys as a means of transport can be a consolidation mechanism such as a sustainable city together with environmental sustainability. The case of the Valparaíso trolleys is selected, since (1) they are a green means of transportation, (2) they move exclusively with electricity, since the beginning of the 20th century (3) they reduce the pollution of the place, (4) they favor uses transportation alternatives, (5) they are axes of social encounter of the community, (5) given their industrial heritage, they are a tourist-cultural resource in the area. The methodology is carried out through the analysis of pollution and energy savings of the trolleys throughout the time they have been operational. In this way you can measure the environmental impact they generate and how sustainable it is to continue using them as a means of transportation in the city. It is concluded that facilitating the daily use of trolleys turns out to be a consolidation mechanism as a sustainable city together with environmental sustainability, as observed in Valparaíso and the various routes of these machines.
