Our work aims to present Saint Paul as Alain Badiou introduces him in Saint Paul: The Foundation of Universalism. We will try to shed light on the positions that Badiou takes around the figure of the apostle. We believe that by making the author’s interpretation explicit, we will be able to build bridges for discussion in the field of political theology. We understand Badiou’s reading as a political philosophical reading, which seeks to have a conversation with the political community. In Badiou´s writing, Paul is presented as an “anti-philosophical theorist of universality” and the founder of the Christian Universalism. Starting from this interpretation, Badiou’s task is to search the universal within the particular.
