The article addresses the challenges of Chile's foreign policy and international relations in the post-Pacific War period. Based on the double asymmetry scheme, we affirm that the country acted as an intermediate state, with a pragmatic foreign policy, focused on compensating its weakness in the face of the regressive change of the international context, characterized by the decline of the United Kingdom, the rise of the United States, and the hostility of its neighbors derived from the war.In this scenario, Chile had to adjust its foreign policy to preserve its major interests, showing its awareness of being an intermediate and pragmatic state, stronger than Peru and weaker than the United States. The research that supports this work is based on specialized historiography and on the primary sources deposited in the archives that we have cited in the text.
