This article aims to analyze the Secretaria Nacional de la Mujer from a dual perspective. On one hand, the model of women promoted by the institution, and on the other, its organizational structure, functioning, and positions. Through a qualitative analysis of the documentation published by the Secretaria Nacional de la Mujer (Amiga magazine, brochures and memoirs), the documentation of the Fund of the Coordination Department of the Seccion Femenina of FET and the JONS (General Archive of the Spanish Administration) and the Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile, it is argued that the Secretaria Nacional de la Mujer was influenced signicantly by Hispanism and Falangism promoted by the Women's Section of FET and the JONS, an institution with which the women who devised and worked during the early years of the Secretariat had a profound relationship. In this sense, the model of women promoted by the Secretary would have incorporated Hispanic and Falangist readings on the "duty of being a woman". This influence would not have been limited solely to the female model but would also have been reflected in its organizational chart and functioning. Likewise, it is proposed that the Secretaria Nacional de la Mujer would have operated as a form of retribution for the women and organizations that participated in the opposition to the government of Salvador Allende.
