The landscape of the micro-basin of the Liguay River, Maule Region, Chile, which has undergone important transformations with the Chilean development model, which has given rise to the agricultural and forestry industry in the territories, is evaluated. To evaluate the study area, a Land Cover 2014 satellite image was used, reclassifying its coverage with the Arcgis 10.8 software and calculating the metrics through Fragstats version 4.2.1. The results reveal a high degradation of the landscape, characterized by the scarcity of wetlands, bare lands and bodies of water, as well as by the fragmentation in the quantity, density and complexity of the patches. It is proposed to implement mitigation measures to face the degradation and fragmentation of the landscape, emphasizing the importance of conservation and sustainable management of the micro-basin, promoting sustainability in the Maule region.
