This paper aims to identify the essential traits of the performance of the main political parties in Chile during the constitutional processes associated with the Constitutional Convention and the Constitutional Council. To achieve this, the present article is divided into four parts. The first consists of a brief description of the general features of political parties in Chile and their current regulation. Next, a synthesis of the 1980 Constitution and its main reforms is presented. Following that, the main arguments in favor of replacing the Chilean Constitution, in abstract, formulated by Fernando Atria and Jaime Bassa, are analyzed. The last section consists in the chronicle of the Chilean constituent process (2019-2023), starting with the social outbreak and the political agreement of November 2019.
