The significance of family farming and its close link with food security in Latin America has already been pointed out by several studies carried out in the region. In addition, there are relationships of interdependence between rurality, family farming, food security and food sovereignty. This article focuses on offering some considerations on rurality, family farming and food security in Ecuador based on the bibliographic review carried out on relevant emblematic studies.
