Evaluating student satisfaction has become relevant for higher education institutions, understanding that they are the main recipients of the educational service. Its relevance in higher education is related to the fact that the fulfillment of expectations and good satisfaction indexes have been related to problems such as desertion, academic performance, or competitiveness of the institutions. The objective of this study is to design a questionnaire to measure student satisfaction among university students. A national index approach is used that incorporates the dimensions of image, expectations, perceived quality, perceived value, satisfaction, and commitment. A sample of 927 students participated in the validation process through the application of the questionnaire constructed by means of an online survey system. The statistical techniques of confirmatory factor analysis and factorial invariance were used to validate the construct of the proposed instrument. As a result, it is obtained that the construct is adequate to measure student satisfaction with adequate validity indicators (chi 2/df = 1.463; RMSEA = 0.022 [0.020 -0.025], SRMR = 0.048; CFI = 0.997; TLI = 0.996; NFI = 0.990). In conclusion, the practical usefulness of the instrument constructed is indicated, considering its contribution to management and to the systematic monitoring of stakeholders.
