In this article, we formulate a methodological proposal for analyzing household care and time poverty from a historical perspective. The methodology is applied to the case of Chile between 1957 and 1973. This research shows that in Chile, the temporal distribution of households' care has changed over time and that despite improving material living standards, the time people have for taking care of themselves and others may be decreasing.
