In this paper, after a brief explanation about the origin of the agreements that the judge, the prosecutor and the accused can adopt in the German criminal process for the rapid completion of the procedure with a conviction that reduces the sentence that could be imposed (“Verständigungen”), a detailed analysis is carried out of those agreements, examining their scope of application, their requirements, their content, the processing of their adoption and their effects. Next, the main criticisms that the German scholarship has raised against these agreements are exposed, distinguishing between dangers for the accused, for the victim and for society. The work ends with some brief conclusions.
