Introduction. This research introduces a validated proposal of the competence profile of the entrepreneurial individual. We analyzed the phases of the entrepreneurial process and the functions involved in each of them, in order to identify the tasks involved in each func-tion/role and consequently also the specific competences of entrepreneurs. Method. The proposal was validated in two stages in accordance with the judgment of 6 ex-perts (entrepreneurs and scholars). In the first stage, we established the tasks related to each of the functions linked to the phases of the entrepreneurial process, in accordance with the as-sessment of the majority of the participating experts. In the second stage and using the same criteria, we analyzed the attitudes and skills linked to the competences necessary to carry out each task. Results. We put forth a profile of the competences of entrepreneurial people, as related to functions and tasks. Each competence is then described according to its constituent attitudes and skills. Conclusion. The proposal of this competence profile is a fundamental tool for the design of entrepreneur training, and is in itself a first step in the planning of such training, because it helps establish educational goals as well as methodological proposals to achieve said goals
