Abstract

The bismuth-based nanoparticles have shown potential application in biomedical field due its unique properties. In this work, an attempt was made to synthesis cost effective nano-flowers Bi2MoO6 (Bi2MoO6 NF) by hydrothermal method. X-ray diffraction results reviles that the synthesized Bi2MoO6 are formed in monoclinic phase. Sample morphology was analyzed by FE-SEM and HR-TEM, which notifies flower like structure with semi-randomly oriented petals. The dimension of flower like structure ranges from 200 nm to 500 nm, however, the petal size ranges from 100 nm to 70 nm. Optical absorption of Bi2MoO6 was measured by UV-DRS spectroscopy and bandgap (∼2.63 eV) was calculated using it. The phase purity and the chemical composition of Bi2MoO6 NF was measured by XPS analysis and presence of Bi, Mo and O was confirmed. Then, the synthesized samples were tested for anticancer activity against mice melanoma B16F10. Anti-cancer activity was observed while using Bi2MoO6 nano-flowers as anticancer agent towards mice melanoma cell line. Results are with respect to dose concentration. The observed results convey that destructed rate of cancer cells are 86% in the dose of 200 µg mL−1. Bi2MoO6 NF was utilized for the organic pollutant (dye degradation) under visible light irradiation. It also evidenced to be a photo catalytically effective material through degradation of Methylene blue and pararosaniline with degradation % of 82 and 95, respectively at 60 min.
