The purpose of this research is to identify and describe the ideas about Latin America portrayed in the articles published in the Journal of Race Development between 1909 and 1919, as well as to analyse the main exponents of these ideas. Through this study, we aim to understand the representation of Latin America and the influence of its authors as key actors in shaping United States' international relations during a complex period when Northern interests advanced over the Central and South American regions. This analysis highlights that international relations of the United States cannot only be studied from the perspective of power, a common approach in the discipline, but also from the perspective of racial ideas. This approach not only represents a relevant historical theme but also holds contemporary significance in the global context.
