The aim of this study is to analyse the representation of Mapuche culture in two books of Chilean literature for children and young people, in order to determine what kind strategies and positions are taken in the cultural translation of the Mapuche world for Chilean children. In this respect, we propose that the analysis of this book will demonstrate that over the last four decades, Chilean literature for children and young people has moved from a discursive and textual positioning that evidences its alienation and distance from the cultural keys of the Mapuche world, towards a dialogic and intercultural positioning, through a discourse based on proximity and knowledge of the historical situation of the Mapuche people. Understanding the forms of cultural translation that emerge in texts designed for children and youth is fundamental to promote intercultural dialogue through literature and education.
