The next essay shows the difficult to get into de "text" of the complex chilean poet Juan Luis Martinez (1942-1993), in particular his first book The New Novel (1977). The present paper will attempt to show the vestibular state of his writing, the impossibility of entering it from the perspective of hermeneutic appropriation, as it usually occurs in literary studies, considering the "strangeness" of his work. As a sample of this exercise, we will approach the consequence of a "failed" reading of The New Novel and the way of exclusion that it raises.
