The article analyses the main historical and documentary sources regarding the development of the areas near Guachuraba Hill during the second half of the sixteenth century, when the first sociocultural foundations of the conquerors emerged and were established in the central valley in Chile. This study also allows to re-discover Guachuraba Hill as an area where important, economic and religious labours were developed, first by the laity and then continued by the Order of Preachers. Finally, this research seeks to demonstrate that Guacharaba Hill had a crucial role and a strategic place before, during and after the foundation of Santiago from a transport, commercial and religious point of view
