This article is intended to identify the pioneering experiences in community radio broadcasting in Chile. The text takes a look at the second half of the 20th century with reference to the context and historical milestones in which community communication projects were developed. It also deals with the response of the State to this type of station, analyzing the regulatory framework for broadcasting and the obstacles to accessing authorizations.
