In the study framework on the Chilean-Spanish relations from 1848 and 1898, the subsequent lines aim to make it known the Chilean linkage with the Philippine Archipelago, which promoted the first and only Consulate of this South American country in Manila, almost in the mid-nineteenth century. Among other aspects, the research stresses the importance of its trade approach when it came to decision-making on such Consulate setup; it provides personal names when learning the ones in charge of such Office over the years, and underlines the fact that the Chilean-Philippine direct contacts were scarce, but not least of minor importance.
