Our attention is focused on the mentions of Alexander the Great in the Histories of Polybius, whose figure was controversial in the polis, where he was treated by some as a tyrant, and by others as the liberator of Greece. Few works have been done on Alexander s relevance for Polybius and its possible interpretations. From the studies of Paul Prédech and Frank Walbank in the 1960s, to that of Robert Billows in 2000, little interest has been noted in the subject by researchers, and only a few have continued with such work. Our purpose is to present an alternative to the existing works and to show that despite the scarce information that Polybius gives us about Alexander, it is not an excuse to open new interpretations.
