This essay explains and defends a rational reconstruction of the system of real action in the Civil Code. The proposed reconstructions are superior to the traditional distinction between actions that “directly” and “indirectly” protect real rights, because it explains the position of each action in a system designed to grant adequate protection to property. “Adequate” means: accessible to those who require it but mindful of not protecting those who do not deserve it.
