The political and military exchanges between La Habana and Santa Marta that arise during the Independence of the latter come under focus in this article. Also, it provides an explanation of certain particularities of the naval, riverine and terrestrial conflict that these royalist cities upheld against their republican counterparts on the period between 1810 and 1815.
