Citizen participation is an increasingly relevant issue for citizens and public policies and management. Even more, when it comes to matters related to protecting the environment. The article addresses the analysis of these dimensions in the framework of the case of Dominga, a mining project located in the commune of La Higuera, emphasizing three specific aspects: a)the analysis of participatory institutionality in the field of the environment; b) the limitations and asymmetries that the Environmental Impact Assessment System and c) the analysis of the perspectives of the various actors that interact in the territory.
