This study aims to expose the importance of affectivity as an emotional expression within conjugal love, drawing a line of continuity between the Iliad and Odyssey by Homer and the Erotic by Plutarch. The analysis is positioned within the history of emotions. It identifies that in erotic language, as in the filial one, it means, the dialectics eros (epsilon rho omega sigma) and philia (phi iota lambda i alpha) shows concepts that put their emphasis into the affection, such as pothos (pi o theta omicron sigma) and philotes (phi iota lambda o tau eta sigma) respectively, and its articulation with the context in which these literary works were released, valuing its influence in the process of social validation of marital love.
