This research focuses on the /tɾ/ group of Chilean Spanish and its objective is to analyze the instances of this group found in Chilean news readers of Chilean television channels, which makes it possible to identify the /tɾ/ variant used and a later characterization of these professionals in relation to their articulation of the /tɾ/ group. In the hypothesis, it is suggested that this group only uses the standard variant [tɾ]. The research methodology is quantitative, because it is part of a methodological design that uses tools to measure, for example, the duration of the segments that make up [tɾ]. The videos from the newscasts of six Chilean channels were used to extract the words with /tɾ/. The words were then subjected to acoustic analysis in the Praat program to observe their spectrogram and waveform. Also, the duration of the occlusive and vibrating segments was measured in each instance. With the spectrogram and the duration of the segments, it can be determined whether the analyzed instances coincide with the characteristics presented by Figueroa et al. (2010) of the standard variant. The results show that Chilean news readers use the standard form of the group /tɾ/ of Chilean Spanish and that they present a similar articulation of /tɾ/, which makes it possible to outline the articulatory characteristics of this group of professionals.
