La esclavitud in Chile has been a hecho invisible in several areas of study and research. Since the time of Colony, the slavery of Africans and their descendants survived in these lands. The novel Coquimbo Episodios Coloniales: los Claroscuros del Desierto de Nicole Pardo-Vilú (2021), reconstructs a silent past intertwining unpublished accounts from which we can “witness” the situation of slaves, slaves and their descendants in the Limarí zone, Coquimbo.
