The article analyzes the representation of aging in the Chilean institutional discourse during the government of Michelle Bachelet (2014-2018), through the analysis of the 18 covers that make up all the issues of the magazine "Mayores de Chile" of the National Service for senior citizens (SENAMA). Through a multimodal content analysis, we include a categorization of images and the use of terminology to refer to elderly people, among other aspects. The research concludes that a successful vision of aging is transmitted (Katz, 1996 and 2014) based on the participation of elderly people in cultural, recreational and sports activities. The covers do not address the structural problems they face, such as the low amount of retirement pensions or the increase in inequalities with age. In the same way, a plural construction of the elderly population that accounts for the diversity of old age in Chile is not observed.
