Based on semi-structured interviews conducted with co-resident couples of gay men living in the city of Santiago, Chile, the distribution of domestic work within the home and the meanings associated with such distribution are analyzed. The results of the investigation show that, although the couples interviewed hold an egalitarian discourse regarding the distribution of domestic work, in practice an unequal distribution of this is observed, both in terms of the amount of time spent, and regarding the type of tasks performed by each of the members of the couple. Along with this, the results show the existence of a more flexible distribution than that observed in heterosexual couples.
