The Gros Colman variety is a red wine, originally from Georgia, from the former Soviet Union. In the Tarapacá region, it dates from the middle of the 20th century, being cultivated in the Pampa del Tamarugal, the driest desert in the world. It regains importance, as part of the rescue of ancient varieties in the region, carried out in 2003, in which, through molecular analysis, it was identified, being one of the variety, which are under the name of “Desert Wine”. It is grown on a trellis, at 960 meter above sea level. whose vinification is carried out in stainless steel vats. It gives rise to a red wine, with distinctive and identifying characteristics, for the Tarapacá region. It has commercial quality, which has made it worthy of national recognition, cataloged as Super Premium, in Tasting Table Guide Contest, La CAV 2020, being among the best wines of Chile of 2020. It constitutes a productive alternative, as wine from niche, the driest desert in the world.
