In May 2018, many Chilean universities were paralyzed by feminist students to denounce the practices of sexual harassment and sexist violence existing in these spaces; this process became known as the “Feminist Tsunami”. This article analyze this process, highlighting the importance of emotions in the development of the movement, as well as in the use of different repertoires of action and strategic frameworks that organized and gave meaning to the Feminist Tsunami and its denunciation of sexist violence. The methodological work is based on the analysis of discussion groups carried out with feminist students and activists, complemented with a press review. The hypothesis we propose is that emotions are fundamental to understand the development of the Feminist Tsunami, its repertoires of action and proposals, as well as the construction of interpretation and analysis frameworks that allowed the students to make visible violence and sexual harassment within the universities, and promote changes that result in the creation of new protocols, gender offices, and the debate on non-sexist education.
