Taltal by Bosco Cayo Israel is a Chilean drama with a northern theme representative of one of the three cultural faces of the Norte Grande, the port city. In this work, as an important part of Cayo’s stage productions referring to this area of the country, certain images about the north are brought together to denounce the Government for letting what was once the third most important port in Chile slip into neglect. The characters in this work, members of a pathological grief intervention therapy group because of the suicide of their adolescent children and/or grandchildren, rebel against the government’s intention to exhume the bodies of their loved ones. Rebellion here constitutes a means of overcoming grief.
