The aim of this article was, first, to determine the entrepreneurial intention (IE) in university students who take an entrepreneurship course based on the Theory of Planned Behavior. And second, to identify the entrepreneurship teaching factors that promote or inhibit EI. The study, with a mixed approach and concurrent design, had the participation of 85 students from a Chilean public university. The data, collected through a survey and a semi-structured interview, were analyzed, in its quantitative dimension, through a structural equation model and, in its qualitative approach, through content analysis. It was revealed that attitude has a positive and significant impact on EI (beta = 0.96; p < .001); and that the determining elements of the teaching of entrepreneurship are the student predisposition, the teacher's passion, the methodology and the content taught. The findings are expected to contribute to improving the effectiveness of entrepreneurship programs offered by educational institutions.
