Through a comparison between Brazilian Cordel from the Sertao and the Amazon Rainforest, and Chilean Lira Popular, it is possible to detect similarities in both oral poetic traditions and find their familiarities with medieval poetry arrived in America. Apart from the highlighting of iconic characters, displaced from institutional power, this oral poetry also narrates the exploitation to which ruraland factory workers are subjected.
