Model predictive control is a very attractive solution for electric drives and converter control, but while classic model predictive controls give good results, the choice of weighting factors is often somewhat complex and even more so when the system it is fault tolerant. For this reason, sequential model predictive control is seen as a viable alternative for these applications. In this work a predictive control is carried out by a sequential finite control set model applied to a synchronous reluctance machine with open phase fault tolerance, the advantage is that it does not requires reconfiguration of the topology. The algorithm is compared with a finite control set model predictive control classic taking into account the same inverter topology. The results show a good behavior of the proposed system, giving a correct follow-up of the references imposed before and after the failure. Results for torque, currents in quadrature, and currents in abc are presented using MatLab's Simulink.
