Human Rights symbolize an essential point for reflections about the history of humanity. In that sense, literature is a significant instrument for representation and reflection on society and history. Thinking about these notes, based on interfaces between literature and Human Rights, in this article we analyze the novels La Distancia que nos separa (2015), by the Peruvian Renato Cisneros, and K.: relato de uma busca (2011), by the Brazilian Bernardo Kucinski, to reflect on issues related to fear, physical and psychological torture and forms of resistance, taking as a historical background the Military Dictatorships in Peru (1968-1980) and in Brazil (1964-1985). We resorted to issues related to political silence and the various silencing policies implemented in dictatorial regimes, demonstrating how contemporary Latin American literature rescues issues still poorly explained in our recent history.
