This paper presents the discussion about the methodology used to carryout municipal projections in Chile. These projections constitute a relevant tool for decision makers and government technicians as useful and statistically-based instruments for making adequate diagnoses on population evolution. The document will also show the methodological bases and techniques for the elaboration of the municipal projections carried out in Chile in 2019. First, we have the introduction and justification of the project. Then, the logistic function of proportions that was used for the estimates and projections is described and the data sources used for it are presented. The use of sociodemographic analysis for adjusting the projection using the logistic function is detailed below. The following section explains the procedure used to open the estimates and projections made by age. Finally, the final reflections on the application of the procedure are presented.
