This article is positioned at the intersection of two closely related disciplines: history of education and literature studies. Using an interdisciplinary approach this paper seeks to understand how formal and informal education influenced the literary work of the Chilean poet Carlos Pezoa Véliz, specifically, regarding his relationship with education, poetry, and death, which are key themes in his biography. Moreover, the lyrical voice is described as a subject who speaks and sings on behalf of a community, thus establishing the concept of the Alma chilena, which shapes and unifies the poetic intention of the author.
