Putting an end to the Cueto Politico. Genesis, functioning and evolution of the selection process for the senior officials in Chile - Established in June 2003, Chile's Senior Civil Servant Selection System (SADP) has been considered as one of the most ambitious institutional reforms of the past 30 years in the country. In this article, we propose to go back to the origins of this institutional device, to understand its justifications, to point out its advantages such as flaws, but also to describe its adjustments. Whereas Chile is going through an unprecedented political, social and health crisis, this analysis informed by a two years field research suggests, in its conclusion, to amend the dominant culture of "expertocracy" of which the SADP constitutes one of the singular expressions.
