This article presents accounts by women pedestrians in Santiago in the context of the Chilean social outburst (2019-2020). This affected diverse infrastructures crucial for the functioning of the city, exposing its inhabitants to uncertainty. By using the walking interview technique, this article explores the practices deployed by women pedestrians to negotiate this uncertain scenario. This includes monitoring their immediate and general contexts; developing ways of dealing with new forms of experiencing their own vulnerability; and developing affective connections with other inhabitants in the city through emotions of politicization. Recognizing the adaptive and affective aspects of walking, as well as its capacity to connect with political processes, opens the way to seek forms of planning that renounce traditional aspirations to control and standardize the bodies and practices.
