Through a review of the local written press and Concepcion Human Rights archives, we sought to verify that the city of Concepcion during the Salvador Allende government was characterized by confrontation and conflict, typical of any society in permanent tension and dispute, as happened under the government of the Unidad Popular; however, that process was exacerbated with the coup d'etat of 1973, at which point the confrontation and conflict gave way to institutionalized political violence carried out by the Military Junta by General Augusto Pinochet.
